The Recovery Ritual

By RELICR · August 25, 2026

A six-phase practice for returning to yourself after rupture. No fixing, no forcing — just sequential tools to hold you while you remember.

R — Release

Duration: 3 min · Goal: Shed tension

Start with what needs to move. Do a rapid brain-dump on scrap paper, writing down every stressor. When the timer goes off, safely burn it to signal these thoughts no longer control you.

E — Embody

Duration: 5 min · Goal: Grounding

Move out of your head and into your physical form. Do 60 seconds of somatic shaking to expel adrenaline, followed by slow, deep stretching focusing on the hips and shoulders.

L — Listen

Duration: 5 min · Goal: Internal clarity

Sit quietly. Use an oracle card or place your hand on your chest. Ask yourself one question: "What is my body asking for right now?" Accept whatever answer arises without judgment.

I — Intend

Duration: 2 min · Goal: Gentle direction

Based on what you heard, set a single, manageable intention for your healing. Keep it incredibly simple, such as "I intend to be gentle with myself." Write it down.

C — Comfort

Duration: 15 min · Goal: Soothe the nervous system

Transition your environment. Dim the lights. Wrap yourself in a weighted blanket, brew caffeine-free herbal tea, and put on soft ambient music to signal to your brain that you are safe.

R — Restore

Duration: 20 min · Goal: Deep healing

Put on a sleep mask and use a dab of lavender on your wrists. Lie down completely flat and play a guided Yoga Nidra meditation. Allow yourself to drift into motionless relaxation.
